Glasscapes

(2010-2012)

This project started out as a means of utilizing some old 8x10 contact glass pieces.  I started out experimenting with stacking the glass, and playing off of the refractions and reflections, firing colored strobes through the various sides.

The next phase of the project involved a rather large, 4’x6’ piece of glass.  I deliberately shattered it with a baseball, creating a myriad of jagged, sharp pieces.  I then stacked those in varying poses to create a sort of randomized sculptural aesthetic.  The final phase of the project used the same method, except with various shaped bottles.  It was a definite departure from the rectilinear shots, yet still retained an increasing element of abstraction.
